Chantier auto-solo

Gaining a better understanding of the psychosocial factors that motivate Quebeckers’ dependence on automobiles so that we can promote the use of more sustainable mobility options.

  • Understanding and acting to modify our mobility habits

The Chantier auto-solo has two objectives: to better understand the psychosocial factors at play in the relationship that Quebeckers have with their automobiles and to transmit and disseminate knowledge on the subject with the aid of various tools and concrete projects. This will, in turn, help us encourage people to adopt sustainable mobility options and reduce the collective dependence on automobiles.

Chantier auto-solo is a transdisciplinary panel that brings together expertise in everything from engineering and psychology to design and governance. Since 2019, Jalon has been coordinating the second cycle of the panel’s work, which will continue until 2021.

Since the panel was created in 2016, some key projects have been undertaken, including a literature review spearheaded by Sérgio Da Silva with the support of the Centre interdisciplinaire de recherche en operationalisation du développement durable (CIRODD) and a vast action-research project to be published in 2020 by Jérôme Laviolette, winner of a David Suzuki Foundation Fellowship.
